First AI Summit: 01/03"Igniting Leadership at All Levels: Working Together To Ensure The Earth's Vitality” 250-300 persons attended each Summit.

Results include
30 + projects
Provocative Propositions from 2003 became the basis for Principles in 2004
Concrete measures: lasting impact – principles; learning and development; elevated language; trust and respect among those who participated

 

Roadway: “Creating and sustaining competitive advantage”

Situation
Needed to increase on-time delivery performance, employee pride and commitment

What Was Done
Since 2000, have conducted approximately 12 AI Summits per year, involving more than 10,000 of their 25,000 employees.

Results include
Shifted bid process with no complaints
Union redesigned dock layouts
Throughput increased from 47 to 64%
Average transit speed reduced from 2.3 days to 2.1
Reduced need for formal grievance process
One terminal alone has saved $10,000 per month by eliminating driver-delay time

Pre-work to establish the strengths and opportunities; one-day workshop to establish a framework for strategic planning from an AI perspective.
